Personal Learning
I have learned that using disruptive innovation can make classroom sessions more interactive and engaging. Also, they help in addressing gaps in learning for students who face issues at their homes. They also cater to children who have different learning styles. It helps in meeting the needs of the students who face a lot of challenges in understanding the concepts. For these children, online learning platforms such as Khan Academy, Udemy, etc., are useful that provide them with individualized learning, which they can undertake at their own pace by watching educational videos of the concepts they want to understand and can assess themselves through gamified quizzes in between the lessons and explore more knowledge about the concepts that interests them. They also receive useful feedback. This innovation caters to a diverse population at one point in time and is also very helpful for students who choose distance learning as their mode of learning. They can track their progress. The COVID-19 pandemic is a scenario where students learned remotely by accessing the materials that were made available to them using the technology. Moreover, this innovation does not provide personal interaction with the teachers. Also, there are certain risks if the technology is not used wisely.
